Sandeep + Joe’s e-session: the sweet and the sultry.

I simply could not resist posting this engagement photo shoot. The subjects are Sandeep and Joe, a darling couple who were my high school classmates once upon a time. They’re getting married this fall, and this e-session is such a delicious prelude to their big day. The colours, the outfits, the poses…it’s all so hot! There’s a hookah on the table for crying out loud! This is my kind of shoot.

Hats off to Sangeeta & Monty from Kumari who are the brilliance behind this shoot – find more images on their blog.

One Fine October Day.

We got these in the mail the other day from our fab photographer, and there’s no way I’m not sharing some with you! Thank you again to everyone who made it all happen – Tara, Keith, Stan, Joan, and even Tara’s dad who made lots of friends sitting around with a bunch of furniture in the forest.

There’s a photo of a bee in the flowers… not sure if Tara knew that J and I only call each other by our first names if we’re fighting (all other times it’s Bee), but how appropriate!

I’m so excited… they’re here!!! No, not aliens from Krypton by the name of Clark Kent (yum), but our engagement photos! They are so awesome even though J and I both hate our faces. One of our favourite shots:

And I love this little series of J and I having a… dance off? Pose off?:

You know you’re reaching your late twenties when your friends start dropping off the single boat and getting engaged. Just wanted to say congratulations to my lovely Jmo, who got engaged on the weekend to her boy of many, many years! It’s about time! Wishing you the best planning journey ever with your *ahem* fiancé.

Engagement shoot – check!

J and I spent Sunday morning at Evergreen Brick Works, where we met with Tara for our e-session. The night before we were busy celebrating J’s birthday and roaming the downtown streets for Nuit Blanche, so to be camera-ready and beautiful at 9:30 was a bit of a stretch. But when I saw our first set up in the woodsy pathways of the forest, I was very, very excited and full awake!

I can’t wait to see our photos posted on Tara’s blog… I’ll be sure to share them with you!

Our autumn e-session: booked!

Yippee! J and I have finally booked our engagement photo shoot and I’m super excited about it. Uh… so it’s become almost a full blown production. We’ve got Tara, our photographer who has apparently scouted a très cool locale, my FBIL and his partner to do the video shoot for it, and my BFF stroke MOH to do the styling! If all goes well, we’ll be shooting north of the city, in a secret location…

In the meantime, here are some great couple pics that I came across.

I absolutely love engagement shoots! They are so adorable and creative… and you can have as much fun as you want. No need to worry about that white dress.

We’ve moved!

Hello all!!! Welcome to my new home!! It’s prim, it’s proper, and it’s all my own. Thank you very much to Silverpoint Media for hooking me up with the hosting… off I go!

Summer is almost ending (big bawl), and J and I need to get our e-session sorted before it gets too dark too fast. If you haven’t already met her (through my Twitter), here is our darling photographer – Miss Tara McMullen. J and I clicked right away with her during our initial encounter at Starbucks, and it didn’t take much time for us to realize she was the one. She will be with us on the big day, and also our engagement shoot that’s to happen soon.

We’ve yet to start scouting locations, but I already told Tara that we don’t want anything to do with the distillery, or any walls that have graffiti on it. We’ve already been there and done it. Does anyone have any suggestions on some great e-session locales?

Gangsta love on the beach.

In the spirit of proposal stories, I’ve managed to get one of the future authors of Miss to Missus, Tiffany (and also one of my best friends),  to spill her story. Enjoy!

Ken had planned a trip for us to the Bahamas to celebrate our 10 year anniversary.  That should’ve been a dead giveaway, but when you’ve been going out as long as we have, the moment you tell someone that you are going away they immediately say, “Ohhh….he’s gonna propose!”.  So I always have suspicions, but I never get my hopes up…just in case.

We arrived in Lucaya, Bahamas late in the evening so it was already dark when we got there.  Ken suggested that we wake up early the next morning to explore the resort.  I agreed.  He said, “Ok, so I’ll set the alarm for 6am.”  What??  We never get up that early, but I didn’t think anything of it and I planned to ignore the alarm anyway.

The next morning, the alarm went off and Ken dragged me out of bed to go and explore.  I am not a morning person…after all I am a “cranks”.  I asked him if I should wear a bathing suit and he said that we could come back later.  I thought that was a little weird.

We left our room and headed straight for the beach.  We took some pictures and then we went to a clearing surrounded by rocks, right by the water.  We were alone on the beach.  We talked for a little bit and then Ken started to make a speech about how we’ve been together for such a long time and how much he loved me.  Then he got down on one knee, pulled out a jewelery box from his pocket and asked me to marry him.  I couldn’t contain myself and I started to cry immediately.  I couldn’t even get the words out of my mouth so I just mouthed “yes”. Wait.  Scratch that. I said…”It’s about time, @!#%$!” and then I crossed my arms over my pelvis.  Yes that is what happened…I can remember it clearly now.

I was now enfianced!!!!

I was honoured to be asked to be a bridesmaid in Tiff’s wedding… I have a feeling we may end up with bandanas over our faces and knuckle rings that say “THUG LOVE” on our hands.

Love on the lake.

Congratulations to my lovely friends Kristy and Jonathan, who got engaged over the weekend. She gave me the go ahead to share her story with you; it’s adorable, and has K+J written all over it!!!

We arrived in Niagara-on-the-Lake on Friday and from the minute we set
foot in the town, he was already pointing at every open grassland and
saying “Oh!  That’s a nice place!  Lets go for a walk there later on”.
If you know him, you’d know that he’s the last person to want to
“walk” around; however, I was clueless!  His suggestions continued
during dinner, and on Saturday during breakfast.  By Saturday morning
I had an idea that he had something in store, but didn’t know what.

We walked around the lake/river, and the whole time I was cursing that
it was so cold and that my ears would fall off from frostbite. I
wanted to go back inside to the warmth of the hotel; however he
persisted that we continue walking. We stumbled upon Fort George, an
old fort that was closed for the winter. We walked around the fort to
an open field where he then pulled out a box from his pocket and said
“I got you something”.

I said, “Wow! Is it my birthday?!” I opened it and found a ring
inside. I asked what it was, and he said “it’s an engagement ring”.
At this moment most people would start to cry, but I started to laugh
out of sheer surprise.

He continued to stand there while I kept saying, “What?! What?!” and
giggling. For a few minutes I could not say anything. It all seemed
like a blur. Then I said “wait a minute, aren’t you supposed to get
on your knee and ask me something?” He did and I said YES!

I’m still in shock that I am now “engaged” and totally surprised that
he managed to sneak past my radar to buy a ring.

Congratulations to the both of you, and welcome to the Wonderful World of Weddings!!!
