Sandeep + Joe’s e-session: the sweet and the sultry.

30.08.2010 (2:44 pm) – Filed under: Photography,Weddings ::

I simply could not resist posting this engagement photo shoot. The subjects are Sandeep and Joe, a darling couple who were my high school classmates once upon a time. They’re getting married this fall, and this e-session is such a delicious prelude to their big day. The colours, the outfits, the poses…it’s all so hot! There’s a hookah on the table for crying out loud! This is my kind of shoot.

Hats off to Sangeeta & Monty from Kumari who are the brilliance behind this shoot – find more images on their blog.

Adorable to the Max.

I discovered Max Wanger back when I was searching high and low for a wedding photographer and completely fell in love with his work (check out his site here). Too bad he was located in LA. You can imagine my glee when I came across his wedding videos today, totally stalker style! Max and his wife Margeaux (their names are the best) are so hot and beautiful together, I couldn’t resist posting these videos.

Shark Pig is the company behind these whimsical, vintage and unique videos. Makes me want to get married all over again.

We got these in the mail the other day from our fab photographer, and there’s no way I’m not sharing some with you! Thank you again to everyone who made it all happen – Tara, Keith, Stan, Joan, and even Tara’s dad who made lots of friends sitting around with a bunch of furniture in the forest.

There’s a photo of a bee in the flowers… not sure if Tara knew that J and I only call each other by our first names if we’re fighting (all other times it’s Bee), but how appropriate!

Engagement shoot – check!

J and I spent Sunday morning at Evergreen Brick Works, where we met with Tara for our e-session. The night before we were busy celebrating J’s birthday and roaming the downtown streets for Nuit Blanche, so to be camera-ready and beautiful at 9:30 was a bit of a stretch. But when I saw our first set up in the woodsy pathways of the forest, I was very, very excited and full awake!

I can’t wait to see our photos posted on Tara’s blog… I’ll be sure to share them with you!

Our autumn e-session: booked!

Yippee! J and I have finally booked our engagement photo shoot and I’m super excited about it. Uh… so it’s become almost a full blown production. We’ve got Tara, our photographer who has apparently scouted a très cool locale, my FBIL and his partner to do the video shoot for it, and my BFF stroke MOH to do the styling! If all goes well, we’ll be shooting north of the city, in a secret location…

In the meantime, here are some great couple pics that I came across.

I absolutely love engagement shoots! They are so adorable and creative… and you can have as much fun as you want. No need to worry about that white dress.

We’ve moved!

Hello all!!! Welcome to my new home!! It’s prim, it’s proper, and it’s all my own. Thank you very much to Silverpoint Media for hooking me up with the hosting… off I go!

Summer is almost ending (big bawl), and J and I need to get our e-session sorted before it gets too dark too fast. If you haven’t already met her (through my Twitter), here is our darling photographer – Miss Tara McMullen. J and I clicked right away with her during our initial encounter at Starbucks, and it didn’t take much time for us to realize she was the one. She will be with us on the big day, and also our engagement shoot that’s to happen soon.

We’ve yet to start scouting locations, but I already told Tara that we don’t want anything to do with the distillery, or any walls that have graffiti on it. We’ve already been there and done it. Does anyone have any suggestions on some great e-session locales?

Wowowow: Darryl & Vicky Photography

Ok, so I may be biased, but I have to show some love for my friends Vicky and Darryl. In a time where there is an abundance of wedding photographers to choose from, Darryl & Vicky Photography shine like a star brighter than everyone else. If you live in the Greater Toronto Area (or even if you don’t), be sure to check out their work at darrylandvicky.com. They capture wonderful moments, with a perfect blend of photojournalism and beautiful portraiture. They’re lovely to work with, and if you are as crazy as they are, you could find yourself photographed in a waterfall 60 minutes away from the city.

Here are some of my favourite shots by Darryl & Vicky:

Oh, snap.

After the reception itself, the most expensive item in the wedding budget will likely be the photography. From the looks of it, it will be in our case. I never realized how tough it was to find a good wedding photographer, and after finding a good one – realizing out how much they cost.

I’m not speaking on J’s behalf, but I am very, VERY picky when it comes to photography. It wasn’t something I knew about myself until I started really looking. Wedding photographers come a dime a dozen – but great wedding photographers? They are needles in haystacks.

I have one referral from a friend, and we absolutely LOVE their portfolio. They are almost 100% perfect to what I’m looking for. The price – a bit harder to swallow (we are talking close to 5 digit pricing!). I found a second photographer myself through Wedding Wire, and they also have a very similar style. Again, the price range is similar to the first photographer. The third photographer found me, through a blog – not exactly what I had in mind, but the more I saw in her portfolio, the more I liked her.  The best part? She shoots in medium format film. Worst part? She’s based in NYC, and her prices are American.

We’re looking for a fine art, photojournalistic style. Nothing cheesy. No softening of images in post-production, and no airbrushing overload (basically, no Photoshop-happy photographers).  I love vintage, LOVE polaroid-like colours. Does anyone have any suggestions or referrals?
